Trinity College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland, recently announced a new, world-class digital exhibition transporting visitors into the illuminated pages of the ninth-century Book of Kells. The Book of Kells Experience brings visitors on a journey through Ireland’s literary and religious past through the historic text and other renowned collections of the college’s iconic Old Library.
The first of its kind in Dublin, the experience sits within Ireland’s oldest university and supports the Old Library Redevelopment Project.
The experience will be set within a specially constructed pavilion on the historic grounds of Trinity. First, visitors will view the Book of Kells in the Old Library before taking in the Long Room, considered one of the most iconic and beautiful libraries in the world.
Then visitors embark on a 360-degree immersive experience in the pavilion. Sights, stories and sounds inspired by the ancient manuscript and Old Library’s precious collection await, including an innovative digital reconstruction of the Long Room.
The experience also explores other books and manuscripts from the Old Library’s historically significant collections. For instance, visitors can travel back to 1916 to hear the Proclamation of the Irish Republic, interact with sculptures of figures such as Jonathan Swift and William Shakespeare, and see the architectural evolution of the Long Room from 1732 to modern day.
The opening date for The Book of Kells Experience will be announced soon, with updates found here.
The Book of Kells is an illuminated manuscript and Celtic Gospel book in Latin containing the four Gospels of the New Testament. The manuscript is dated to around A.D. 800 and was named after the Abbey of Kells in which the manuscript was housed for centuries.

Mar 1, 2024Down to Earth: Find Your Element for the Ultimate Customized Spa Experience at Chuan Spa
After a stressful pre-holiday season and a busy work schedule, there was no better time for a relaxing spa experience than during my recent trip to Pasadena with the FXExpress Publications, Inc. team. We headed to The Langham Huntington, Pasadena for the 20th anniversary of the GT Tested Reader Survey awards, which meant a jam-packed trip, but I managed to carve a little time out of our busy schedule to visit Chuan Spa at the hotel.

Come Face-to-Face with Mountain Gorillas on a Trek in Uganda
Not a word was spoken as I settled into a cozy spot on the outdoor terrace just outside the main lodge at Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge in Uganda. The air was so still the ice in my single malt seemed to echo off the forest in the distance as it clanked against the glass. I sat among a handful of fellow adventurers, each sitting silently beneath the night sky for one collective goal. Moments earlier, we learned a troop of mountain gorillas had made their way down the mountain near our lodge, and we left our meals to instead sit in eager anticipation of hearing the guttural grunts of the primates below. The chills on my arms never left me that night, even as I made my way up a stone pathway to my personal banda (guestroom). Thankfully, sleep came quickly for me that night as I drifted into dreams of what my next day would bring.

Feb 21, 2024Healing in the Hinterlands: Relax and Renew Amid the Curative Nature of Southall Farm & Inn
This isn’t an ordinary Southern back porch kitted out with rocking chairs. Instead, at Southall Farm & Inn, I step out to stand beneath an overhang with vintage barn vibes but stylishly brandishing contemporary pizzaz. A row of glamorous sofa-esque loungers edge an inviting pool that stretches the length of the sitting porch, which might more aptly be dubbed a “soaking” porch. That’s because it holds a wondrous mineral bath, a house-built “natural spring pool” that brims with 60 essential minerals curated by experts with salts from South Africa and born from a momentous amount of research to mirror some of the world’s most curative geothermal springs. While soaking, I gaze upon the bounty of this working-farm-meets-5-star-wellness-resort, a 325-acre haven of healing repose.
