Let’s Talk About South Beach

I recently completed my third visit to Miami in seven months. During my first trip, I enjoyed a fabulous room with a killer view on the 27th floor of Kimpton Epic Miami. The second time I stayed just a bit south in Brickell, at AC Hotel by Marriott, not far from Brickell City Centre (which is fabulous and has since expanded my Zara wardrobe considerably). On this most recent trip, I was in town with a couple of colleagues to attend Seatrade Cruise Convention, and I stayed at Gabriel South Beach.

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling

The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips. From Piraeus port, you can access Hydra, Spetses, Aegina and Poros directly. Come explore these stunning islands with us and find the inspiration to plan your next trip to these islands. Hydra Hydra town curves around a slope overlooking the Argosaronic Gulf like an amphitheater and is considered one of the most romantic destinations in Greece. Most unique to the island is its lack of vehicles. People on the island get around on mules and donkeys as well as water taxis, making for a peaceful and laid-back day. Hydra lies a two-hour ferry ride from Piraeus port in Athens.

My main course consisted of octopus and artichoke salad, and my colleague Carrie’s was the special of the night, lobster ravioli, while my other colleague Kim’s was fresh-caught sea bass and potatoes.

Casablanca Café and the Lizards of Florida

As a Florida transplant, I must say I never knew about the lizards. Off and on, people told me Florida had critters and bugs and, of course, there’s the fear of snakes and alligators — but, honestly, I’m not sure anyone ever mentioned the lizards.

My Pandemic Year in Travel

This week was my 27th birthday. How did I get here? It seemed to creep up so quickly. I remember this time last year the pandemic was in full swing with restaurants, bars and attractions closed. Friends and family couldn’t travel to see one another, and people were unsure how life was going to unfold in the next year, let alone the next day.
