Travelers of all abilities can now live their travel dreams at Georgia Aquarium, with experiences like scuba diving with whale sharks and cage diving with hammerheads open to everyone, including those living with quadriplegia or in wheelchairs. Georgia Aquarium believes these once-in-a-lifetime connections should be accessible to everyone, so the venue trained staff, designed experiences and built spaces to make those dreams a possibility.

Georgia Aquarium boasts Scuba-Certified Dive Masters and instructors with certifications and training to help guests of all abilities, from wounded warriors to children with spinal cord injuries and other disabilities. All guests can safely submerge, swim or dive with the world’s largest aquarium ocean habitats.

Beyond physical challenges, in 2018 Georgia Aquarium became the first to be designated a Certified Autism Center. Last year it was named KultureCity’s Sensory Inclusive Venue of the Year for training more than 80 percent of its staff and volunteers to compassionately and effectively work with guests on the autism spectrum. Services for those with vision and hearing loss are on offer, as well.

More than 12 percent of American adults have a mobility disability, and 2.2 percent are on the spectrum, including one of every 36 children; and Georgia Aquarium can offer them an inclusive, memorable travel experience.

We headed to The Langham Huntington, Pasadena for the 20th anniversary of the GT Tested Reader Survey awards, which meant a jam-packed trip, but I managed to carve a little time out of our busy schedule to visit Chuan Spa at the hotel.

Fukui: A Culture Hub in Rural Japan Worth the Detour

In many cases, less can be more in terms of what smaller cities and small-scale museums have to offer. This is true for Fukui Prefecture, located on the west coast of the main island and best known for its coastline, terrain and quiet towns. While major cities are awash with large-scale museums, bucolic Fukui Prefecture is worth a visit for its assemblage of institutions offering a deeper dive into Japanese life, history and culture.

Once you’ve boarded Regent’s Seven Seas Grandeur, it is immediately apparent this recently launched cruise ship delivers what the name promises.
