As I mentioned in my last blog, my husband and I planned to celebrate our anniversary in Philadelphia, the location of our wedding. We had a great day spending quality time together and with family.
We started our day with brunch at Parc. Located on Rittenhouse Square, the restaurant is a favorite of ours and where we had one of our early dates. The brunch menu offers something for everyone with sweet and savory items with a breakfast or lunch vibe. We decided to share the pastry basket that came with a selection of sweet and savory pastries. My favorite was the chocolate chip scone, and my husband loved the chocolate chip croissant. For my entrée, I opted for the egg white omelette with ratatouille and goat cheese. I am picky when it comes to omelettes, and this one was one of the best I’ve had.
After our meal, we slowly made our way to an escape room we booked near South Street. The theme was Jack the Ripper which, while not exactly romantic, was a fun time. And we made it out with a few minutes to spare!
It was a hot day, so we called an Uber to go to Citizen’s Bank Park for the Phillies game. We met our family in the suite and settled in for the game. Throughout the game we enjoyed some classic Philly snacks including Federal Donuts. The game against the Washington Nationals turned out to be an amazing one to experience in person, with the Phillies winning 19–4. After the game, Shaq, who also goes by DJ Diesel, deejayed a special set on the field. While our tickets gained us entry, we decided to head home after the long day, although we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of him, as his suite was a few down from ours.
Overall, it was a great day celebrating our anniversary and the Phillies win.

In many cases, less can be more in terms of what smaller cities and small-scale museums have to offer. This is true for Fukui Prefecture, located on the west coast of the main island and best known for its coastline, terrain and quiet towns. While major cities are awash with large-scale museums, bucolic Fukui Prefecture is worth a visit for its assemblage of institutions offering a deeper dive into Japanese life, history and culture.
